Dear Parent / Guardian: As you know, as of September 1, 2020, the State of Illinois has provided free lunches for all students. That program is continuing through the 2021 - 2022 school year. As we have continued to bring various aspects of the school finances up to date we have discovered that some students are carrying an unpaid lunch balance that existed prior to September 1, 2020. A report of your child's lunch balance is being sent home. If the balance is in ( ) that is the amount you owe. If it is not in ( ) then this is a positive balance. Eighth grade students need to pay anything owed prior to graduation. If they end up with a positive balance it can be transferred to a sibling or refunded. Just let us know. If your statement has a number of $.40 charges this is for an extra milk that the state has determined is not free. If you have a substantial balance owed, we can work out a payment program.
